An imaging apparatus includes: in-finder display means for allowing an in-finder display to be observed in such a manner as to be superimposed on a subject image; diopter adjustment means for adjusting a diopter of an eyepiece optical system; a focusing plate in which a diopter adjustment index is formed on a focusing face; diopter adjustment detection means (103) for detecting whether or not the diopter adjusting means is operated; in-finder display determination means (102) for determining whether or not an in-finder display is selected; and in-finder display control means (105) for turning off the in-finder display for a prescribed time when an operation of the diopter adjusting means is detected in a state where the in-finder display is selected.
