Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the degree of freedom of a dynamic range (D range) which can be set while suppressing image quality change caused by exposure control, when the D range is changed.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus is capable of insertion/extraction of a ND (Neutral Density) filter capable of gradually changing density, using exposure control. An image processing unit 24 comprises a gamma correction circuit for performing gamma correction on image data after imaging. A system control unit 50, on the basis of a photometric value obtained from image data before the gamma correction, performs control of changing exposure and a gamma correction characteristic. The system control unit 50 has an assist mode for assisting determination of a D range, calculates a target D range and calculates a difference between a specific photometric value and the present D range. The system control unit 50 performs insertion control of the ND filter (S704) when a difference between a change amount of the D range and a change amount of the ND filter satisfies a predetermined determination condition, and determines an exposure parameter to change the exposure (S705) when the difference does not satisfy the predetermined determination condition.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
