An imaging apparatus includes: a first operation unit by which a user gives an instruction to change a zoom position; control means which changes the zoom position to the wide angle side in accordance with a first operation through the first operation unit and changes the zoom position to a zoom return position stored in storage means, in accordance with a second operation through the first operation unit; a display unit which displays a return frame over display of a photographed image; and a second operation unit by which the user gives an instruction to change the zoom return position. When the second operation unit is operated, the control means updates the zoom return position stored in the storage means and updates display of the return frame on the display unit. The control means limits updating of the zoom return position in accordance with the size of display of the return frame indicated through the second operation unit.
