When the brightness of a subject is equal to or lower than a brightness for increased lighting, a lighting counter is increased in step S402, and when the brightness of the subject is equal to or lower than brightness for decreased lighting, the lighting counter is decreased in step S404. When the lighting counter is equal to or higher than a predetermined value, 1 is set for an increased lighting process in step S407, and thereby an amount of light emitted for movie light is increased. On the other hand, when the lighting counter is equal to or smaller than the predetermined value, -1 is set for the increased lighting process in step S409, and thereby an amount of light emitted for the movie light is decreased. An amount of light emitted for movie light is suitably adjusted in accordance with the brightness of a subject.
