To provide an imaging apparatus which when there are plural subjects becoming in focus at different distances, focuses on any of the subjects to obtain a stereoscopic effect.
In a focus bracket photographing mode, when a control part 6 detects operation on a shutter key, the control part 6 sequentially moves a focus lens 2 to lens positions corresponding to plural focal points and along with this, causes an imaging part 4 to photograph plural pieces of image data at the respective lens positions. In a reproduction output mode, the control part 6 determines an in-focus image area from in the pieces of image data, virtually arranges in a 3D space the subjects included in respective images on the basis of the focal distances and the sizes (heights) of the subjects, and displays the images as a single composite 2D image. If a user indicates a subject desired to focus on, a composite image in which only the subject is in focus and the other image areas are blurred is generated and displayed.
