To suppress flickering in a displayed image by a light source flicker which is a flicker of an illumination light for illuminating an object when a moving image is displayed during photography of the object with the imaging apparatus.
An image based on an image signal read from an image pickup device 104 capable of reading the image signal by a frame reading system is displayed on an image display part 116 as the moving image (through image) at a desired reading frame rate [frame/second] among a plurality of kinds of reading frame rates. A CPU 122 analyzes the image signal to detect presence/absence of the light source flicker and a frequency [Hz] of the light source flicker, and selects a processing method which should be used in a display flicker reduction processing part 108 based on magnitude relation between a value of the reading frame rate and a value of the frequency of the light source flicker among a plurality of display flicker reduction processing methods prepared to the moving image displayed on the image display part 116 in order to reduce the display flicker caused resulting from the light source flicker.
