An imaging system including an imaging apparatus and an imaging lens which can be attached and detached to and from the imaging apparatus includes imaging means imaging an object, the diaphragm adjusting the quantity of light made incident on the imaging means, the 1-2 phase drive system stepping motor for driving the diaphragm, and control means making the stepping motor into an energized state, when the diaphragm is narrowed and performs control so as to drive the diaphragm by a difference between an aperture value in such a state that the diaphragm is narrowed and an aperture value for photographing the still picture, when the photographing of the still picture is instructed in such a state that the diaphragm is narrowed.
