Abstract:
To track focus on a subject even when a direction of travel of the subject changes in a time-series manner.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes: imaging means that picks up a subject image formed by an imaging optical system to generate image data; subject detection means that detects a subject included in image data generated by the imaging means to acquire a subject detection result; focus detection means that acquires a result of focus detection in a focus detection area set based on the subject detection result; and control means that performs a prediction operation to predict a position of the subject at a time after the lapse of a predetermined time from the detection time of the focus on the subject detected by the subject detection means, and performs focus control of the imaging optical system. The control means changes at least one of a subject position prediction condition and a focus control condition in accordance with the subject detection result obtained by the subject detection means and a time-series change of the focus detection result obtained by the focus detection means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
