PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image which gives a small feeling of incompatibility in editing after photography through an imaging apparatus comprising a plurality of imaging elements for picking up images respectively through a plurality of optical systems differing in focal length.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises a plurality of optical systems differing in focal length and a plurality of imaging elements picking up images through the respective optical systems. A luminance level detection unit of an image processing unit detects luminance levels of signals output from the respective imaging elements (S301), and a control unit calculates a target value of exposure (S302). The control unit performs exposure control (S304) such that when it is determined that an output of an imaging element picking up an image through an optical system having a long focal length needs to be multiplied by a gain value (S303: YES), a luminance level of a signal output from each imaging element is substantially equal to a luminance level of a signal output by the imaging element picking up the image through the optical system having the long focal length, controls a gain for an output of each imaging element, and performs control to compensate for a deficiency with respect to the target value of exposure (S306).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
