Abstract:
To prevent a variation in exposure for each photographing for the same subject in performing photometry within a range corresponding to a focus detection frame set in a focus detection system in which the size or the position of the focus detection frame changes.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus has: first setting means that sets a focus detection area for performing focus detection; second setting means that sets a first photometric area for performing photometry; determination means that determines whether the size of the first photometric area within a predetermined range is smaller than a predetermined area determined in advance; third setting means that, when the size of the first photometric area is smaller than the predetermined area, sets a second photometric area obtained by expanding the first photometric area; and photometric means that, when the second photometric area is set, performs photometry on the second photometric area, and when the second photometric area is not set, performs photometry on the first photometric area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
