Abstract:
To provide an imaging apparatus capable of continuing to perform focusing on an object of detection automatically, even if the object of detection moves in the direction of the optical axis of an optical system.
In a camera 10 which comprises an imaging means such as an imaging device 20 and a lens 12 for photographing a field and outputting it as a picture signal, a system controller 34 detects a face contained in the field from the picture signal, when its shutter button is pressed halfway down. The system controller 34 focuses the lens 12 on the detected face. By repeating these operations, operations for focusing on the detected face are repeated until real photographing.
