To provide an imaging apparatus and imaging method in which the shutter can be clicked only by touching it without applying any force, camera shake can be prevented from occurring in photographing a subject, and the shutter can be prevented from being clicked without intention.
The imaging apparatus 1 includes: a casing 11; a shutter 18 built in the casing 11; an imaging part built in the casing 11 for capturing an optical image incident through a lens when the shutter 18 is opened; and an operating part disposed in the casing 11 for opening/closing the shutter 18. The operating part includes a first touch sensor 20 and a shutter button (second touch sensor) 16 that a user can touch when the user holds the casing 11 and after the first touch sensor 20 is touched and the shutter button 16 is touched within a predetermined time from the touch, the shutter 18 is opened/closed.
