To provide an imaging apparatus achieving the control of photography to which various remote control devices other than a dedicated remote control device are applied.
In constitution where a remote control signal from the remote control device outputting infrared pulses is received and the control of photography is performed, based on the received remote control signal, the number of pulses included in the received remote control signal is counted, and photographic processing by an imaging part is started, on the condition that counting the pulses equal to or higher than the previously set number (N) of threshold pulses is confirmed to be within previously set time-out time (T). By the use of such a constitution, photography that uses remote control device, coping with various kinds of electronic equipment and not the remote control device dedicated to the camera and a remote control function attached to a cellular phone, is performed.
