To shorten time required for photometry under low brightness.
A prediction method of a photometric value, which utilizes a photometric circuit which has a photoelectric conversion region that generates electric charge corresponding to incident light from a subject, and resetting means for resetting the photoelectric conversion region to a preset voltage, and outputs the electric charge generated in the photoelectric conversion region after converting it into a photometric value, in which the resetting means resets the photoelectric conversion region (S706), control means obtains a photometric value from the photometric circuit for plural times after the resetting at preset timing (S707 to S710), and prediction means predicts the brightness of a subject based on a change in the obtained photometric value and conversion characteristics of the photometric circuit after resetting the photoelectric conversion region (S711 to S720). The conversion characteristics of the photometric means is characteristics expressing relationship between the brightness of the subject and the photometric value changing according to lapse of time from the resetting.
