An image quality adjusting table storing an image quality adjustment content that is made to correspond to a photographing scene and presence or absence of a luminance difference of a prescribed value or above at upper and lower parts of a horizontal position in a photographed image is arranged in a storage unit 15. A control unit 10 acquires the horizontal position in the photographed image based on a detection output of an acceleration sensor 16, and extracts the luminance difference between an upper region than the acquired horizontal position and a lower region. Performance of the image quality adjustment content that is read from the image quality adjustment table in accordance with the photographing scene that is automatically discriminated (or photographing scene selected by a user) and with the extracted luminance difference is instructed to an imaging unit 13. Consequently, when the photographing scene is backlight, the finer image quality adjustment such as to differ correction of exposure on upper and lower sides than the horizontal position in the photographed image is realized.
