To provide an imaging apparatus capable of performing long-time photographing by a battery by reducing power consumption during live view, without interfering with photographing.
The imaging apparatus for capturing an object image entering from a photographic lens by an image pickup device comprises: a camera shake detection means for detecting the angular velocity at which the imaging device travels, an imaging means for capturing the object image by the imaging device, a display means for displaying an image captured by the imaging means, and an imaging period control means for changing the capturing period by the imaging means, while displaying the object image on a display means. The imaging period control means changes the imaging period, based on the angular velocity detected by a shaking detection means.
