To provide a compact imaging apparatus capable of adjusting the optimal illuminating state for an object even in short-range photography in the same way in long-range photography, by solving the problem that while it is necessary to provide a driving device for changing the illuminating direction of the outgoing rays of light of illumination in order to set the optimal illuminating state to an object according to the movement of the object and a photographic distance with the object in photography, an illumination part is relatively large in size in comparison with the imaging apparatus, and the driving device is largely scaled, and it is difficult to miniaturize the imaging apparatus including the illumination part as a result.
This imaging apparatus having an imaging part which images the image of an object is provided with: an illumination part for illuminating an object; an imaging part varying part for varying the imaging part; and a focal distance detection part for detecting a focal distance with the object, and configured to vary the imaging part by using the imaging part varying part in the direction to the object illuminated by the illumination part.
