To provide an imaging apparatus such as an endoscope of which the diameter is made smaller, and to provide a solid state imaging apparatus which is used for the solid state imaging apparatus.
The imaging apparatus includes a lens 25, an imaging section 16 wherein pixels for converting incident light into a signal are arranged into a matrix shape, a vertical scanning circuit 4 which is adjacent in the line direction as viewed from the imaging section 16, and a peripheral circuit for processing signals read from the imaging section 16. The imaging apparatus also includes the solid state imaging apparatus 1 on the top surface of which a plurality of terminals 17 are respectively installed, and a prism 2 which is directly installed on the imaging section 16, and guides the incident light to the imaging section. An exposure adjustment is performed when the brightness of light which is output from a processor 20 varies in response to the size of the signal which is output from the solid state imaging device 1.
