To provide an imaging apparatus, wherein part of image data after tilt correction is not omitted and a field angle is not different between a display image during photographing and the image data after the tilt correction.
The imaging apparatus includes: an optical system 10 for generating the optical image of an object; an optical zoom means 10c for changing the magnification of the optical system 10; an imaging element 10e for converting the optical image into an image signal; an tilt correction means 16 for clipping part of the image signal; a tilt detection means 12 for detecting the tilt of the imaging apparatus itself; and a control means for controlling the optical zoom means 10c so as to reduce the magnification of the optical system 10 on the basis of the size of the tilt of the imaging apparatus itself, when the tilt detection means 12 detects the tilt of the imaging apparatus itself, and for controlling the tilt correction means 16 so as to clip part of the image signal on the basis of the change of the magnification of the optical system 10 and a clipping frame for canceling the size of the tilt of the imaging apparatus itself.
