The imaging apparatus includes: a casing provided with a ventilation port for communicating a convection path formed inside with the atmosphere; an imaging element housed in the casing; a temperature rising part thermally connected with the imaging element and rising temperature in the convection path; a blower for generating convection in the convection path; a lid switchable to an opening state of opening the ventilation port and a closing state of closing the ventilation port; and a controller for controlling the operations of the lid and the blower on the basis of an operation state relating to the operation period of the imaging element.
