To provide an imaging apparatus that corrects image blur, and also determines posture of the imaging apparatus more accurately.
The imaging apparatus includes an acceleration detector for detecting acceleration of an image blur correction movable part 402. The image blur correction movable part 402 moves by gravity when driving control is stopped. After the driving control of the image blur correction movable part 402 is performed so that an acceleration value of the image blur correction movable part 402 output from the acceleration detector and a speed value obtained by integrating the acceleration value may be within a prescribed range, the driving control of the image blur correction movable part 402 is stopped, thereby the image blur correction movable part 402 is moved by gravity, and the posture of the imaging apparatus 1 is determined from position information before and after the driving control of the image blur correction movable part 402 is stopped, which is output by a Hall element.
