To provide an imaging apparatus in which exposure non-uniformity can also be reduced while shortening a time lag of still image photographing from a live view state.
This invention relates to an imaging apparatus including: a CMOS sensor 15 having an imaging plane on which pixels are arrayed; a front curtain 14f which is retreated at one end side of the imaging plane in a light non-shielded state during a charge state, traveled to another end side of the imaging plane after setting of the charge state and retreated again to the other end side in the light non-shielded state after traveling; a front curtain electronic shutter esf for resetting light-shielded pixels in cooperation with traveling of the front curtain 14f; and a rear curtain 14r which is retreated to one end side of the imaging plane in the light non-shielded state during the charge state, and traveled in the same traveling direction as the front curtain 14f after setting of the charge state, to realize the light-shielded state after traveling. The time from start of exposure by the front curtain 14f to end of exposure by the rear curtain 14r is an exposure time.
