To provide an imaging apparatus which can alarm a user before taking an image that the influence of a rolling shutter distortion is likely to occur on an image to be taken.

An imaging apparatus includes: an image pickup device 12 which images light from a subject through a photographic lens 4 and which can control an exposure time by a rolling shutter; a mechanical shutter 26 which mechanically controls the exposure time by the image pickup device; a display 20 which displays an image based on an imaging signal from the image pickup device; a setting part which sets control of the exposure time by the rolling shutter or by the mechanical shutter; an acquisition part which acquires an imaging condition; and a display control part 10 which displays an alarm display on the display to alarm that the influence of a rolling shutter distortion is likely to occur on an image to be taken, when the control by the rolling shutter is set by the setting part and the imaging condition acquired by the acquisition part meets a prescribed condition.
