To provide an imaging apparatus that can shoot continuous images suitable for a moving subject while suppressing an increase in capacity of recorded images in continuous shooting .
The imaging apparatus having a continuous shooting function comprises: imaging means for generating an image signal based on an optical signal of a subject; storage means for storing an image file based on the image signal; first detection means for detecting a motion of the imaging apparatus; control means for controlling an imaging interval in a continuous shooting operation so that the imaging interval in the continuous shooting operation of the imaging means in a case where a magnitude in the motion of the imaging apparatus is larger than a predetermined value is shorter than the imaging interval in the case where the magnitude in the motion of the imaging apparatus is smaller than the predetermined value based on a detection result by the first detection means.
