To provide an imaging apparatus capable of capturing a plurality of viewpoint images accurately by using an imaging device of a line-sequential driving type.
In an imaging apparatus 1, opening and closing for each of optical paths are switched by a shutter 11 so that lights are received by an image sensor 12 according to lights passed along each of the optical paths, thereby capturing imaging data corresponding to left and right viewpoint images on the image sensor 12. In the image sensor 12, since exposure and readout of signals are conducted line sequentially, a temporal deviation in an exposure period or a readout period occurs for each line. Due to the temporal deviation, a parallax amount between each of the viewpoint images is likely to decrease near the center of an image (screen) where the lights passed along each of the optical paths are mixed and an observer is likely to gaze. As described above, the switching of the opening and the closing for each of the optical paths is delayed by a predetermined period so that the mixture of the lights passed along each of the optical paths is less likely to occur, particularly near the center of the image.
