Abstract:

To provide an imaging apparatus suitably carrying out exposure control and thus capable of carrying out excellent detection of the focal state of an imaging optical system.

The imaging apparatus includes: focus detection means 25 for detecting the focal state based on a received light signal from a prescribed pixel in imaging elements 22 which are a plurality of pixels arranged two dimensionally; a mirror 21 conducting flux to an observation optical system 24 by reflecting and having one part of the flux transmit in the state of being inserted in an optical path; display means 271 for displaying an imaged image when the mirror 21 is in the detached state from the optical path; and exposure control means 25 for carrying out exposure control so that the signal strength of the received light signal from the pixel used for detection of the focal state is a predetermined threshold or less when the mirror 21 is in the inserted state into the optical path and carrying out exposure control so that the signal strength of the received light signal from the pixel used for display of the imaged image is suitable for displaying the imaged image when the mirror 21 is in the detached state from the optical path.
