To provide an imaging apparatus which measures a distance to a subject at a long distance by image processing with a simple method, thereby obtaining information on the position and the name of the subject.

The imaging apparatus comprises: a long distance measurement arithmetic unit which performs image processing of a pair of images obtained by capturing an identical subject from different places and calculates the distance to the subject from a parallax between the images of the subject detected from the two images; and a long distance measurement control unit which displays auxiliary information using posture information from a posture measurement unit and azimuth information from an azimuth measurement unit and transmits the captured images to the long distance measurement arithmetic unit.
