The imaging apparatus includes: an imaging element in which a plurality of pixels generating a signal charge corresponding to an exposure amount are two-dimensionally arranged and which includes a memory storing image signals of the whole pixels; an imaging control section performing first reading control to make the imaging element perform first exposure, and to make the image signals of the whole exposed pixels to be stored in the memory so as to make them to be sequentially read at every field, and second reading control to make the imaging element perform second exposure, and to read the image signal on the second exposure from at least a part of the pixels included in the field where the first reading control is terminated during two field reading periods whose orders continue; and a photograph condition determining section for determining a photograph condition on next and subsequent first exposure control based on the image signal which is read by the second reading control.
