To shorten a release time lag, and increase a consecutive photographing frame speed, without energizing a rear blade holding electromagnet during live view.
An imaging apparatus comprises: a front blade driving member which drives a front blade group; a rear blade driving member which drives a rear blade group; a cam gear which turns the front blade driving member and the rear blade driving member; a motor which drives the cam gear; and a controller which controls the motor. The controller performs control so that a second voltage lower than a first voltage applied when the front blade driving member is released is applied to the motor when the rear blade driving member is released, in normal photographing, and a third voltage lower than the first voltage and higher than the second voltage is applied to the motor when the rear blade driving member is released, in live view photographing.
