To provide an imaging apparatus which allows continuous shooting according to an imaging environment.
An imaging apparatus includes a setting unit which sets either one of a first mode or a second mode. The first mode enables execution of continuous shooting including repetition of light measurement processing for measuring light with a first aperture area of an opening of an aperture, and imaging processing for imaging with a second aperture area smaller than the first aperture area. The second mode enables execution of continuous shooting including repetition of light measurement processing for measuring light with the second aperture area of the opening of the aperture, and imaging processing for imaging with the second aperture area. The imaging apparatus further includes a control unit which performs at least one of a first control and a second control, if an operation button, different from a release button or a power button, is operated during continuous shooting in either of the first mode and the second mode being set by the setting unit. If the first mode is set, the control unit performs the first control that switches the mode from the first mode to the second mode. If the second mode is set, the control unit performs the second control that switches the mode from the second mode to the first mode.
