PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately perform interpolation in the case where a plurality of photoelectric conversion sections are included within one pixel.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus 1 includes: an adder section 13 which adds a plurality of photoelectric conversion signals with a first color component by first pixels of an imaging device 3 for each of the first pixels and adds a plurality of photoelectric conversion signals by second pixels of the imaging device 3 for each of the second pixels; an interpolation processing section 13 for interpolating a signal of a color component lacked at each pixel position while using signals at peripheral pixel positions regarding a target image formed from a signal of the first color component and a signal of the second color component after the addition by the adder section 13; and a control section 9 which detects a direction of an image structure on the basis of the plurality of photoelectric conversion signals before the addition by the adder section 13 and controls the interpolation processing section 13 in such a manner that the signal of the color component lacked at each pixel position in the target image is interpolated while using signals at the peripheral pixel positions in the detected direction.
