PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which easily suppresses a lack of image information, for example, a halation and black saturation.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus 100 comprises: imaging lenses 111, 112; an imaging element 120 which receives a beam L1 having passed through the imaging lenses 111, 112; a spatial modulation optical element 130 which comprises plural modulation surfaces 132a arranged flatly in a space allowing the beam L1 to pass therethrough and is disposed between the imaging lenses 111, 112 and the imaging element 120; and a modulation control part which individually controls the permeability D of the modulation surfaces 132 on the basis of intensity information I of a beam L2 received by the imaging element 120.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
