Title:
IMAGING APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3933819
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent interference of pressure waves in ink channels for different pixels by setting the length from the upstream end to the modulating section of an ink channel at a predetermined length or longer.
SOLUTION: The length A on the upstream side of a modulating section 38, 40 provided in an ink channel 34, 36 is set at a predetermined length or longer. More specifically, the length A is set longer than any one of the diameter D of the ink channel 34, 36 or the length of ink channel corresponding to the volume of ink for one pixel. The diameter D is normally about 40 μm. The volume of ink for one pixel corresponding to the length of ink channel may be 2 micro litter (μL) or less. The size of one pixel corresponds to the diameter of about 300 μm and the length of ink channel corresponding to the volume of ink for one pixel may be 20 μm. The modulating section 38, 40 varies the area of ink channel by driving a movable member, i.e., a diaphragm 42, facing the inner wall of the ink channel 34, 36 through a drive section, e.g. a piezoelectric element.
