To provide an imaging device, an imaging method and a program which can prevent a display device from displaying a black screen or continuous display of a single screen, and secure good visibility and photograph a high-speed moving object even when a photographing condition has changed to a scene of an object moving at high speed.
An imaging device comprises: a reading control unit which controls reading of pixel signals from a plurality of pixels arranged on an image sensor element; a reading sequence setting unit which can at least set a first reading sequence for reading the pixel signals aiming at continuous photographing, and a second reading sequence for reading the pixel signals aiming at displaying a moving image while performing continuous photographing; and a reading sequence selection unit which selects the first reading sequence or second reading sequences based on the read pixel signals.
