To provide an imaging device that can realize live-view display or the like by which a stroboscope effect can be confirmed sufficiently while reducing the number of light emissions of a stroboscope to suppress consumption of a built-in battery.
In an imaging device, a subject image is converted into an image without irradiating a subject with illuminating light. Based on an image at the time of non-illumination acquired by this and reflection light information, a simulation image corresponding to an image at the time of illumination obtained by irradiating the subject with illuminating light is generated, and the generated simulation image is displayed. As the reflection light information, a luminance ratio of the image at the time of non-illumination and the image at the time of illumination obtained by irradiating the subject with illuminating light in a pixel unit or a unit of a block consisting of a plurality of pixels, is used.
