To provide a variable frame rate imaging device, in which the brightness of a picked-up image will not change, even when a frame rate is changed, and to provide an image processing method for keeping the brightness of the photographed image to be constant.

A control part 112 appropriately generates a diaphragm amount control signal S115a; a drive control signal S115b; an amplification factor setting signal S115c; an amplification factor setting signal S115d; and a noise reduction strength setting signal S115e, with reference to luminance information S109 by a luminance detecting part 109 and a frame rate control signal S114 by an input device 114, and controls a diaphragm 102, a drive signal generating part 113, an AMP 104, a D-AMP 107 and an NR 110, and performs exposure control and noise reduction intensity control.
