To alleviate the unevenness of exposure in still picture photographing, irrespective of the time duration of live view indication, in a digital single-lens reflex camera capable of live view indication using together a mechanical shutter and an electrical shutter.
An imaging device has an imaging element (6) having a plurality of pixels, a shutter (5) having a front curtain (150) and a rear curtain (160), and a scan control means to control the reset scan of the imaging element. The control means operates so that when still image photographing is directed while executing the live view indication which periodically outputs and sequentially displays the image signals from the imaging element (S133); if the time duration of the live view is longer than a prescribed first time (S134) and the established shutter speed is shorter than a prescribed second time (S135), by running the front curtain and the rear curtain of the shutter (S141-S150), the exposure time of imaging device is controlled (S136-S138). In cases other than these, by running the rear curtain after the reset scan has been carried out, the exposure time of imaging device is controlled (S136-S138).
