To prevent a risk in replacing a lens, without having the arrangement position of a rotary shutter move to a position near an imaging surface.
An imaging apparatus includes: a lens mount section to or from which a lens section 1 is attached or detached; an imaging element 2 photoelectrically converting an image beam of a subject incident through the lens section 1 to generate a video signal; a disc-like shutter 3, having a light-shielding section for shielding incident light to the imaging element 2 and a transmission section for transmitting the incident light to the imaging element 2; a shutter drive motor 4 for driving the disc-like shutter; detection sections 101x, 101r for detecting the detachment/attachment state of the lens section 1; and a shutter control section for supplying a control signal for stopping the shutter to the shutter drive motor 4, when the detection section 101r detects the detachment of the lens section.
