PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus including a grip attachment/detachment mechanism which can be stably attached to a camera body, has grippability and does not hinder miniaturization of the camera body.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: a moving member in which an engagement part capable of being engaged with a part to be engaged is formed and which is moved to such a first position that the engagement part is not engaged with the part to be engaged, such a second position that a space is formed between a grip member and the imaging apparatus, and such a third position that the engagement part is engaged with the part to be engaged and the space is narrower than in the second position; a holding member which is partially disposed within a projection surface of a grip attachment part and is engaged with the moving member to hold the moving member in the first position; and an urging member which urges the moving member toward the third position. When the grip member is attached to the grip attachment part, the holding member and the moving member are disengaged from each other, and the moving member is moved from the first position to the second position by an urging force of the urging member, and subsequently, the moving member is moved from the second position to the third position.
