To provide an imaging display apparatus and method capable of enhancing the operability by displaying a broadcast video image fully on a screen when the broadcast video image and a stored video image in an HDD are displayed as two images and restoring the fully displayed broadcast image to the two-image display state.

In the case of two-image display where the broadcast video image and the stored video image in the HDD 30 are displayed at the same time, when a user instructs a full screen display of the broadcast video image, a CPU 62 temporarily stops the reproduction from the HDD 30. When the user instructs the display state restored to the two-image display, the CPU 62 releases the temporary stop of the HDD 30 and restarts the reproduction.
