A method of combating ectoparasite (especially acaricide) and helminth infestations in animals, especially sheep and cattle, which comprises treating said animals with an effective amount of a compound of the formula: where (R<1>)m represents up to 4 optional substances, m being 0 or an integer of from 1 to 4, each R<1> independently being C1 C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkoxy, C1-C4 alkylthio, halo, -CF3, -NO2, -CN, phenyl, phenoxy, NH2, -NHCOCH3-OH, -CH2OH, -CHO, COO(C1-C4 alkyl), -COOH, -CONH3, -CH2OCH3 or SO2N(C1-C4 alkyl); or 2 of the groups R<1> together represent a -CH = CH - CH = CH-; -(CH2)3- or -CH2)4- group attached to adjacent positions of the benzene ring; Y is -CHR<2>- or -(CH2)2-, R<2> being hydrogen or CH3; and the dashed line represents an optional bond; or with a non-toxic acid addition salt thereof, or with a composition containing said compound or salt together with a diluent or carrier. Also covered are the novel compounds (and their preparation) of the formula: where R and R<1>, which may be the same or different, are each independently C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkoxy, C1-C4 alkylthio, halo, -CF3, -CN, -NH2, -NHCOCH3, -OH, CH2OH, -CHO, -COO(C1-C4 alkyl), -COOH, -CONH2, -CH2OCH3 or -SO2N(C1-C4 alkyl)2; or R and R<1> together represent a -CH = CH - CH = CH-, -(CH2)3- or (CH2)4- group linking the 2- and 3-positions of the benzene ring; and n is 0 or an integer of from 1 to 3; and the non-toxic acid addition salts thereof. The invention also includes ectoparasiticidal and antnel mintic compositions comprising a compound of the formula (I) or (A) and a diluent or carrier.
