To synthesize a compound made by introducing various kinds of anions into an imidazolium salt and thereby provide a stable electrolyte in relation to temperature by including, in it as an effective ingredient, an N- alkylimidazolium salt provided by reacting an N-vinylimidazole compound having a vinyl group only in either the first position or the third position with acid.
It is preferable that an N-vinylimidazole compound having a vinyl group only in either the first position or the third position is reacted with acid, and an N-vinylimidazolium salt provided by polymerizing the resultant reaction product is used as an effective ingredient. This electrolyte is provided by performing the neutralization reaction of the N-vinylimidazole compound with an inorganic acid such as a hydrobromic acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, fluoroboric acid, or an organic acid such as an acetic acid. In order to react the N-vinylimidazole compound with an acid, for instance, they are stirred and mixed in an aqueous solution at 0-20°C, excessive water is collected and removed from the reaction solution, and the electrolyte is extracted by using an organic solvent such as diethyl ether.
