PURPOSE: To provide new compds. showing peculiar antagonism to angiotensin II, useful for the treatment of hypertention, atherosclerosis, etc., and so on.
CONSTITUTION: The new compds. have formula I [where A is 1-8C alkyl, alkenyl or 3-8C cycloalkyl; B is H, halogen or 1-5C perfluoroalkyl; D is -CH2-OR4 or -CO-R5 (R4 is H or 1-8C alkyl; R5 is H, OH or 1-8C alkoxy); R1 is H, halogen, nitro, hydroxyl, trifluoromethyl or the like; R2 is H, 1-8C alkyl or the like; R3 is hydroxyl, benzyloxy or the like], for example, 2-[4-(2-butyl-4-chloro-5- formyl-imidazol-1-yl-methyl)phenyl]-2-cyclopentyl acetic acid L-prolinamide. Further, the compds. of formula I, for example, are obtained by reacting the compds. of formula II with the prolin derivs. of formula III (L is 1-4C alkoxy or benzyloxy) in an inactive solvent in the presence of a base.
