Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:An imidazolylcarboxylic acid shown by the formulaI[Ph is (halogen-substituted)phenyl; R is H or lower alkyl; n is 1W8]and its ester derivative.
EXAMPLE: Ethyl-1-[2-( 2,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-hydroxy-3-(imidazole-1-yl )propylthio] acetate.
USE: An antifungal agent or fungicide for agriculture.
PROCESS: An epoxy derivative shown by the formula II is reacted with an alkali metal salt of a thiol derivative shown by the formula III (M is alkali metal) in a proper solvent at 0°CW room temperature to give a compound shown by the formulaI. This compound is hydrolyzed with an alkali aqueous solution at 0W100°C to give a compound shown by the formulaIwhere R is H.
