To provide an imitation wood usable in a state where plural logs of the imitation wood are easily stood side by side or piled up, easy in construction, having inconspicuous filling marks, and having wood feeling, touch, and the like, which are very close to a natural wood, and a method for manufacturing the imitation wood.

The imitation wood 1 is a compact 3 obtained by filling a raw material in a mold 2 and demolding the material, and it comprises a bar- shaped body 4 of the imitation wood and a dent part which has been formed on a part of the outer periphery 4a of the body of the imitation wood in such a manner that it extends in the longitudinal direction of the body 4 of the imitation wood, and which can be engaged with a part of the outer periphery 4a of the body of another imitation wood 4.
