Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an immersion heater superior in safety and durability, which has a good heat generation efficiency.SOLUTION: An immersion heater 10 is immersed in molten metal to heat the molten metal or keep it warm. The immersion heater comprises: a heater main body part 12 to be immersed in the molten metal; and a power transmission part 14 extending through a bent part 15 in a direction crossing the heater main body part 12, and having an upper portion 14b exposed from a molten metal face ML of the molten metal. The heater main body part 12 has: an exothermic body 16 which is made of a conductive ceramic material and generates heat when energized through the power transmission part 14; and a first protection tube 18 which contains the exothermic body 16 to protect the exothermic body 16 against the molten metal. The power transmission part 14 has: a power transmission body 20 provided with an electrode part provided for connection with an external power source on the upper portion 14b located outside the molten metal, the power transmission body being connected to the exothermic body 16 at a lower portion 14a in series, and made of a conductive ceramic material; and a second protection tube 24 which contains the power transmission body 20 to protect the power transmission body 20 against the molten metal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
