PURPOSE: To perform rapid phisical separation of antigen-antibody combined complexes, and uncombined bodies after completion of an immune reaction, by using an immunereaction sheet and an uncombined body-containing sheet which are paired and formed by a porous medium.
CONSTITUTION: When a liquid sample is brought into contact with an immunoassay element in the presence of a labeled antigen, the labeled antigen, and the unlableled antigen competitively combine with an antibody which exists in an immobilized state withing the antigen-antibody reaction layer. As a result, the amount of the unreacted labeled antigen can be determined by measurement from the side of one sheet of the immunoanalytical element, and the amount of the reacted labeled antigen can be determined by measurement from the side of the other sheet.
