PURPOSE: To achieve a higher analysis sensitivity and a higher reproducibility, by incorporating a porous reaction layer containing one of a bioactive substance and a substance able to bond specifically thereto and a non-porous layer containing a substance which bonds specifically to a labelled substance to modulate a signal due to a marker enzyme into an analysis element.
CONSTITUTION: This analysis element is composed of a porous reaction layer which contains one of a bioactive substance such as polypeptide and protein of blood, plasma or the like and a substance able to bond specifically thereto and a non-porous layer containing a substance which specifically bonds to a labelled substance by an enzyme to modulate a signal due thereto. The signal due to the marker enzyme can be detected by absorbancy or other methods. Fiber used in the porous reaction layer includes pulp and a powdery filter paper. The use of such an analysis element permits a higher analysis sensitivity and a higher reproducibility.
