To provide an immunostimulant having, as an active ingredient, a viscous polysaccharide selected from viscous polysaccharides derived from Kjellimaniella crassifolia Miyabe under predetermined conditions and a method of extracting a viscous polysaccharide derived from Kjellimaniella crassifolia Miyabe.
The immunostimulant has a viscous polysaccharide extracted from Kjellimaniella crassifolia Miyabe whose aqueous solvent solution has concentration of more than 0.05% and less than 0.3% as an active ingredient. The process for producing an immunostimulant is a method of extracting a viscous polysaccharide derived from Kjellimaniella crassifolia Miyabe having a pulverization step of pulverizing Kjellimaniella crassifolia Miyabe, an extraction step of mixing the pulverized Kjellimaniella crassifolia Miyabe with an aqueous solvent and shaking to obtain an extract solution of a viscous polysaccharide, and a salt removal step of removing salts from the viscous polysaccharide.
