Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of pseudo hollow metal balls which is capable of effectively absorbing impact energy from all directions, is high in the percentage of voids, is excellent in deformability and further has a high strength, and a filling structure or the like thereof.
SOLUTION: A linear component in which a series of the pseudo hollow metal balls are continuously aligned is formed by hydraulically deforming a metallic tube material in a specially shaped mold. Then, the hollow metal balls are formed by cutting and removing the circular tube portions from the component. Then, a vessel is filled with the hollow metal balls to form the impact energy absorbing body which has a remarkably high strength and a high impact energy absorbability.
